WORKING CAPITAL MANAGEMENT A VERITABLE TOOL FOR MANAGEMENT IN A MANUFACTURING COMPANY CASE STUDY DANGOTE CEMENT, GBOKO

ABSTRACT

This work is critically focused on the examination of the role of working capital in a manufacturing organization a case study of Dangote Cement Company Plc, Benue State. Nevertheless, the research leave room for generation of the research findings, the researcher set out research questions to help verification of the work. Data collection and authentication of opinions with a view to make relevant recommendations for a better working capital system in Dangote Cement Plc.

This work is divided into five 5 chapters for clarity and distinction of the various aspects of the research all the chapters started with brief introduction after which a historical overview of the company finance system will be review the problem of hypothesis is spect out upon which the research hypotheses are stated.

Chapter two 2 is a review of relevant related literature where in the researcher revolved a historical approach considering activities of the organization. In chapter three 3 the researcher focused his attention on research methodology. A highlight of the research procedure shows that the researcher has shed questions, oral interviews, observations and available literatures.

Also limitations faced by the researcher in carrying out his work will also be stated. The data collection via the procures stated in chapter three, four chapter five border on summary of findings, conclusions, recommendations and limitations of the study..

The total assets of business organization can be spited into two. The fixed assets longterm financingand current assets shortterm financing. Financing of current assets falls within the realm of working capital management. This separation tends to be justified because of difference in the nature of those assets and in most business current assets represent more than half of total investment in assets all together.

With this, working capital has become a vital area concern for most business organization unlike, those days when profitability was the only single objective of business organization. Today modern business organizations are most essentially concerned with survival growth and therefore most importantly are concerned about liquidity position of their organization. In recent years many business have experience high rate of inflation, liquidity problems, more importantly in this country then ever before austerity measures, the structural adjustment programme, foreign exchange regulation of currency of fixed exchange rate system by late Abacha regime which failed as a result of non complained and scarcity of foreign currency in Nigeria economy.
