ABSTRACT

This research was carried out to analyse the effects of instructional materials on the academic performances of students in secondary schools in Olorunda Local Government of Osun State. For the study, the sample consisted of one hundred and fifty students were randomly selected from five different secondary schools with ten students representing each class of the junior secondary schools and each class in the senior secondary schools. The data collection instrument was the questionnaire and percentage rating was used to analyse the results generated from the scores.

The outcome of the analysis of data showed that the use of appropriate and relevant teaching aids, adequate instructional materials, adequate subject teachers, and academic qualifications of teachers greatly influenced students performances in subjects.

From the results, it was concluded that the use of instructional materials had effects on the academic performances of students in secondary schools in Olorunda Local Government of Osun State.
